Introducing: Meet Me on Risa

My longtime love of Star Trek and newfound joy of LEGO collided this year, spurning a bizarre passion project—Meet Me on Risa.

Like I mentioned earlier in the year, I didn’t really have any goal in mind, or expectations for myself or it. It was kind of the point.

It’s a project that no asked me for. Spacey interstitials, mesmerizing ambiance. A celebration of the creative and technical. An effort to put something out there that doesn’t exist, something that the world doesn’t realize it needs.

Stay tuned for the premiere of Transmission, the launch video for Meet Me on Risa, launching June 12 on YouTube.

Making this idea a reality meant withdrawing several skills out of the generalist’s bag. From LEGO—a world and language onto itself—to videography, woodworking, automation, lighting, set design, audio and video production. And a love of Star Trek: The Next Generation to keep me going through countless rebuilds (OK, it was three.…).

Transmission is just the start, and I plan on weaving more skills and domains into this project as it evolves…kind of a wild way to spend half a year, but I’m enjoying the chance to activate invention via imagination like Disney or Jobs.

Subscribe and stay tuned for the Meet Me on Risa channel premiere this Friday, June 12th.
